North Andover — M. Elaine (Regan) Murphy, 78, of North Andover, formerly of Haverhill, passed away at her home, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Methuen, she was the daughter of the late, John A. and Katheryn B. (Smith) Regan. She attended Immaculate Conception Grammar School in Newburyport and was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1954.
Ms. Murphy was employed as an administrator of medical records at the former Hale Hospital in Haverhill for over 30 years. She was previously employed at Western Electric in North Andover. She enjoyed spending summers at Plum Island, and cherished her time with her family and close friends.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves her children, James “Shamus” Powers and his wife, Kathy, of Monroe, N.Y., John “Sean” Powers and his wife, Nancy, of Haverhill, Kathleen D. Powers of Sarasota, Fla., and Jeremiah “Miah” Murphy of Danville, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Sean, Jeffrey, and Jennifer Powers, Kara Margillo, Sarah and Maggie Powers, and Caitlin Roche and Mary Murphy; two great-children, Leila and Dylan Margillo; a sister, Katheryn Desmarais and her husband, Leonard, of Seabrook, N.H.; two brothers, Michael Regan of Lawrence, and John Regan of Andover; a brother-in-law, Richard Sproul of Yakima, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her partner of 50 years, Thomas F. Maloney Jr.; and sister, Joan Sproul.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Wednesday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Route 125, Haverhill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m., at St. James Church, Winter St., Haverhill. Entombment will follow in Elmwood Mausoleum at Elmwood Cemetery, Salem St., Bradford.
