Methuen — Donald L. Sylvia, 74, of Methuen, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born and educated in Nantucket, Mass., he was the son of Manuel and Catherine Sylvia. He graduated from Nantucket High School with the Class of 1956. He served in the U.S. Airforce and was honorably discharged from service.
After graduating from Merrimack Collage with an Associate's Degree, Don worked for many years at Raytheon in Burlington, Mass., as a Tech Writer prior to retirement. In his free time, Don enjoyed hunting, reading, making rubber stamps, and going to Hampton and Rye beach with his wife, Barbara, but most of all spending time with his entire family. He was also a member of the Pelham Rod and Gun Club and a long time member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Barbara (Broadhurst) Sylvia. Don is also survived by his daughter, Carolyn Giroux and her companion, Ron Arsenault, of Newton, N.H.; his son, Mark Sylvia and his wife, Karen, of Methuen; four grandchildren, Courtney Giroux, Ashley Giroux, Alexander Sylvia, and Gabrielle Sylvia; a great-grandson, Ryan Forgue; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Michele Giroux.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, March 18, at 9 a.m. in Saint Monica’s Church with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen Mass.
