Methuen — Mrs. Irene P. (Rokel) Coconis, 86, a resident of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen.
She was born on December 25, 1926 in Lawrence to the late Peter and Elizabeth (Rolonios) Rokel. Irene was educated in the local schools of Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She later attended and graduated from McIntosh Business School. Irene was a parishioner of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, where she was an active member serving on many festival committees throughout the year.
She worked as an assembler for Western Electric Company in North Andover for ten plus years.
Irene was an avid reader and will be remembered for her quick wit, loving heart and great compassion for animals, she also had a wonderful outlook on life. She always had a smile on her face and having been born on Christmas she was called the "Christmas Angel". She will be missed by her many friends and all who knew her.
Wife of the late John H. "Harry" Coconis, her family members include her brother, George P. Rokel and his wife, Janice of Windham, N.H.; one nephew, Peter and his wife, Kaci Rokel of Windham, N.H.; and her nieces, Joanna Batchelder of Methuen and Andrea Rokel of Arizona.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 71 Chandler Road, Andover. Burial will follow at the Saint Mary's Immaculate Conception
Mausoleum in Lawrence.
