Forrest M. Bateman


formerly of Haverhill — Forrest M. Bateman, 87, of Chichester, N.H. passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH. He was born in Haverhill on May 6, 1925, son of the late, Alfred and Florence (Bunker) Bateman.

Forrest was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1946 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later attended Springfield College receiving his teaching degree. He was a member of the former People’s United Methodist Church in Bradford, where he was a Scout Master, Lay Leader, Trustee and Chairman of the Administrative Council. Forrest was an affiliate of the Chichester United Methodist Church where he was a scouting representative, member of the Board of Trustees, Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, and N.H. District Lay Speaking Chairperson. Forrest was also a Boy Scout Ranger at Lone Tree Council Troop 7 and Troop 85.

He is survived by his two nieces, Linda E. (Nelson) White of Rush Springs, Okla. and Patricia (Nelson) Langlois of Kingston, N.H.; and dear friends Donna M. and Lee E. Hurst, Jr. of Plaistow, N.H. He was predeceased by his siste,r Elizabeth (Bateman) Nelson and his brother, Raymond Bateman.

ARRANGEMENTS: There will be two memorial services for Forrest, first being held on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. at the Chichester United Methodist Church, corner of Main St. and Canterbury Rd. in Chichester, N.H., second will be on Wednesday, March 27 at 3 p.m. at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 471 Main St. Haverhill. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements are by H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill and Bradford.
