Salem, N.H. — Leonard Lavoie, 79, Salem N.H., loving father and husband, passed away at the Holy Family Hospital Methuen, Mass., on Friday April 26, 2013, after a long illness, with his family at his bedside. Leonard was born in Ville Degelis, Province of Quebec, Canada, son of the late Elzear and Elma (Pare) Lavoie of Canada. He was raised and educated in Canada. In the late 1960's, he moved his family to the United States and lived in Lawrence, Mass., and worked as a carpenter. In 1970, he started his own business, Lavoie Construction Company. Then later on in years, he retired.
He enjoyed traveling, being with family, loved to go to casinos, for fun, and going to Florida, for months at a time. He will best remembered for his endless love and support for his family.
Leonard is survived by his wife Claudette (Levesque) Lavoie of 60 years; daughters, Danielle and her husband, Norman Michaud, Lawrence Mass.; Dolores and her husband, Joseph Kennedy, of Hampton, N.H.; Priscilla and her husband, Ghislain St.Pierre, of Lawrence Mass.; son, Richard and wife, Sylvie (Pinet) Lavoie, Salem, N.H.; and Jacinthe, wife of the late Chanel Gagne, Methuen Mass.; sisters, Marie (Lavoie) St. Onge and Rita (Lavoie) Picard, of Canada. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday May 2, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., on Friday May 3, 2013, at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem, N.H. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
