North Reading — Mary L. (Sullivan) Mahan – 89, of North Reading and formerly of Wakefield, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Winchester Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Mahan.
Born in Wakefield, MA on September 25, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Mable (Meuse) Sullivan. She was raised and attended school in Wakefield.
Mary worked for the former Wakefield Shoe Company in Wakefield and Compugraphic In Wilmington. She was a homemaker and a devoted grandmother and great grandmother. Mary has been a resident of North Reading for the past sixty years, she was a member of the North Reading Council on Aging and St. Theresa’s Church.
She loved to read, watch the Patriots and especially enjoyed going to Foxwoods. Mary loved to go to the China Cuisine, where she was known as “Mai-Tai Mary”.
Family members include her loving daughters, Linda Faraco and her husband Frank of Burlington, Nancy Brown and her husband Larry, Lori Harris and her husband Tom, all of North Reading and Marcia Naffah and her husband Jim of Lawrence; her brother John Sullivan of Marietta, GA, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, with the eleventh due in July. Also survived by many dear and true friends, especially, Penny and Nancy.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Wednesday, February 27 at 9:15 AM, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street (Rt.62), North Reading. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to: CCS and the North Reading Food Pantry, P.O. Box 626, North Reading, MA 01864.
