Salisbury — Joanne Aliquo passed away peacefully on Friday at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. She was born in Lawrence, and was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Lahey) Tierney. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Aliquo, who passed away in 1997.
She grew up in Lawrence and attended St. Rita's Grammar School and St. Mary's High School. She furthered her education by attending Catherine Laboure School of Nursing. She went on to a career in nursing, working at the Anna Jaques Hospital, the Prescott Nursing Home and Mary Immaculate Nursing Home. She and her family were also the former owners of the Hungary Traveler Restaurant in Salisbury. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, and will be missed by her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary F. Aliquo of Salisbury; her son, Marc J. Aliquo of S. Portland, Maine; her grandsons, Vincent and Nicholas Aliquo of S. Portland; her two sisters, Jane Tierney of Amesbury and Ellen Roberts and her husband, Charles, of Madison, N.H.; her nephew, Brian Roberts and wife, Amy, and children, Lindsey, Owen, and Theo of Newburyport and nephew, Sean Roberts and wife, Abby, of Nahant.
ARRANGEMENTS: Joanne's funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 9, at 12:30 p.m. in the Star of the Sea Church on Beach Rd. in Salisbury. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
