Medford — Eugene B. O’Leary, 88, a resident of Medford, passed away on October 6. He was born in Malden on June 13, 1924 to his parents, Maurice and Mary (Daley) O’Leary. Eugene was raised in Malden and is a graduate of the former Malden Business School.
During World War II, he served his country honorably as an Aerial Gunner in the United States Army Air Corps. Prior to his discharge in 1945, he received the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Cross. Eugene worked as an Investigator for Veterans Services in Boston for over 40 years. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Medford, the Norman Prince Post in Melrose, and was a Past State Commander of the Legion of Valor. Eugene was also a life member of the Mystic Valley Gun Club and the Andover Sportsman’s Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mary T. (Cormier) O’Leary; his son, Kevin R. O’Leary and his wife Kim of Haverhill; his grandchildren, Jason O’Leary of Malden, Koren O’Leary of Haverhill and Eric Baurichter and his wife Shanna of Wisconsin; by his great-granddaughter, Ashley Baurichter of Ohio; and by his sister, Mary Bruen of Medford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Eugene was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Baurichter, and by his sisters, Patricia Orcutt, Bernice Callanan, Barbara Sawyer and Dorothy Lyons.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday October 15 at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday October 14 from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
