Donald J., Dufresne


North Andover — Donald J. Dufresne, 68, of North Andover passed away October 10 at Academy Manor after a year long battle with Lung Cancer. He was born October 7, 1944 in Lawrence, one of nine children born to Arthur and Edith (O’Keefe) Dufresne. He lived most of his life in North Andover and was educated in the North Andover school system.

Don served in the United States Army and worked in the maintenance department at the Veteran’s Hospital in Jamaica Plain and at Lucent in North Andover and was an assistant in his brother’s business. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing cards. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family at the frequent large family gatherings, the most recent being his birthday party on October 7, 2012.

He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Lin and the Oncology Department at the Holy Family Hospital as well as the staff at the Academy Manor for their loving care and support.

He is survived by his siblings; Arthur and his wife Donna , Dennis and his wife Ann, all of North Andover, Thomas and his wife Ann of Haverhill, Robert and his wife Jean of Florida, James and his wife Mary of Delaware, Linda Dufresne of Texas, and was predeceased by his brothers Richard and Michael . He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Linda Dufresne of Hampstead, N.H. and Mary Ellen Dufresne of Atkinson, N.H. and several nieces and nephews whom he was very fond of.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 12 noon at St. Michael’s Church in North Andover. Burial of ashes will follow in St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Hospital Oncology Department, 70 East Street, Methuen, MA 01844 or to St. Michael’s Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA 01845.
