Haverhill, MA — Barbara L. (Fortier) Marcotte, 87, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Wingate at Haverhill, following a long illness.
Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Leon and Edna (Surrette) Fortier, she attended local schools and Haverhill High School.
A resident of Haverhill all of her life, Mrs. Marcotte worked in the local shoe industry and at Eastron in Haverhill. From 1960 until 1971, she and her late husband Norman W. Marcotte, owned and operated Norman’s Restaurant in Lafayette Square.
A member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish, Mrs. Marcotte enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and spending time with her large family.
Survivors include daughters and sons-n-law, Judith and Richard King of Plaistow, NH, and Joyce and David Naylor of Haverhill, sons and daughters-in-law, Richard L. Marcotte of Haverhill, Gary N. and Sheila Marcotte of Plaistow, and Norman W.Jr. and Sun Marcotte of Valdosta, GA., a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary Fortier of Millis,MA , fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister Frances Boucher.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and support given to Mrs. Marcotte and her family, by the staff of the Wingate at Haverhill.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
