Nashua, N.H. — Gilda Sue Kaplan Edelstein of Nashua, N.H., formally of Norwood, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012, after a 20-year battle with breast cancer. She fought with immense bravery and was a source of inspiration to others confronting similar struggles.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Dora and Meyer Kaplan, Gilda graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Boston University. She spent years working in the Boston area in Ophthalmology Medical Administration, notably for Tallman Eye Associates, Medical Eye Care, and Dr. Samir Melki.
Pre-deceased by her former husband, Robert D. Edelstein, she is survived by her dear friend, Maury Friedburg; her daughter, Susan Friedburg and husband, Bob, and their son, Ethan, of Hudson, N.H.; her son, Michael Edelstein and his partner, Stéphane Kergroach of Geneva, Switzerland, and their daughters, Lexie and Katia, of London, England; her brother, Alan Kaplan, and his wife, Beryll, and his sons; and an extended family of cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: The funeral service will be private. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 31 from 1 p.m. at the home of Susan and Bob Friedburg in Hudson, N.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center Oncology Department in Gilda’s name.
