Haverhill — Michael G. Korizis, 83, widower of Helen (Sampson) Korizis died peacefully at Crestview Center in Langhorne, Pa. on October 13, 2012.
He was born in Spetses Greece, November 8, 1928, son of the late George and Marina (Papageorgiou) Korizis.
Mike was educated in Spetses Greece and joined the Greek Navy. After completing tour of duty, he joined the Merchant Marines. Mike emigrated to the United States in 1955 to be with his brother the late Andrew Korizis. Together they established a successful painting business. He later became property manager for several hundred units in Haverhill and Manchester, N.H. Mike and his late wife Helen (Sampson) Korizis loved to garden and vacation. They especially loved to spend time with their grandchildren, family, and friends. Mike was a member of the Annunciation/Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church located in Elkins Park, Pa.
He is survived by his son, George M. Korizis and his wife Karen (Dumont) Korizis and their children, Michael T. Korizis, Marc Korizis, Georgette Korizis; son, James M. Korizis, wife Suzanne (Gemmell) Korizis, and their children Eleni Korizis and Michael J. Korizis; sister-in-law Jennie Heseltine, and many nephews and nieces. He was also the brother of the late Andrianos Korizis, Lazaros Korizis, Anagrios Korizis, Andrew Korizis, and sister Katina (Korizis) Moskovitis.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on Friday morning, October 16, at 10 from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a funeral service at 11 in Holy Apostles, Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154-156 Winter St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
