Constantinos (Charles) John Dabekis, 80

Hampstead, NH — Constantinos (Charles, Coe) Dabekis, age 80, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013, at Lawrence General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann Bell Dabekis.

Constantinos was born in Lowell on December 22, 1932, the son of Arhontoula (Hazel) and John Dabekis. He grew up in the acre section of Lowell and had been an active communicant in St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church. After marrying Mary Ann Bell in 1977 he moved to Lawrence where he lived until her passing eleven years ago. He then moved to Hampstead, N.H., to be close to his stepdaughter, Amber Bell Ragnarsson and her family.

Constantinos enlisted in the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduating from Lowell High School in 1951 and served in Korea in 1953 followed by two and one half years of service in Japan. Upon returning home from the service he enrolled at Suffolk University from where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing.

Subsequent to his graduation from Suffolk University Constantinos worked as a substitute teacher in the Lowell school system. Thereafter he was employed as a Child Support Enforcement Officer with the Massachusetts Health and Human Services Child Support Division in Lawrence, where he retired after serving over 35 years. It was here that he met his lovely wife to be, Mary Ann Bell.

He enjoyed music very much, playing the piano for his own enjoyment and being a member of the former Byzantine Male Choir of Lowell and the male choir at St. George’s Church.

Constantinos is survived by his stepdaughter, Amber and her husband, Anders Ragnarsson, along with their two children, Axel and Emma; his stepsons, Darren Bell and Robert Bell, along with his children. He also leaves his brothers, Arthur and Chris Dabekis; his sister-in-law, Marianthe Dabekis and sisters, Elaine Dabekis and Diane Horan. He also leaves two nieces, Daphne Kouloungis and Nicole Chomiak.
