Joseph M. Williams, 70

Rollinsford, NH — Joseph M. Williams, 70, of Rollinsford, N.H., formerly of the Bradford section of Haverhill, Mass., died on Thursday, October 10, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late John H. and Dorothy M. (Corbett) Williams. Educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of St. James Grammar and St. James High School, Class of 1961. He relocated to Rollinsford in 1985. Mr. Williams proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1964, until being honorably discharged in 1966, and was a member of the Rollinsford AMVETS.

An electrician by trade, Mr. Williams was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 103, where he obtained his apprentice’s license, and continued in Boston for 35 years.

For many years, Joe and his wife, Carol, wintered in Florida. He loved the ocean, and cherished time flying his kites on the beach. A man of many talents, he played guitar, and along with his wife, rebuilt player pianos. He enjoyed tinkering with electronics and building computer systems.

He leaves his beloved wife, Carol C. (Shellene) Williams, of Rollinsford; three daughters, Angela L. Williams, of Gloucester, Jennifer A. Lee and her husband, Michael, of Reading, and Elizabeth R. Williams, of Durham, N.H.; a son, Pan Greenwood; two stepsons, Benjamin C. Batchelder, of Whitefish, Mont., and Bryan C. Batchelder, of Lahaina, Hawaii; two brothers, John Williams and his wife, Jane, of Bradford, and James G. Williams and his wife, Patricia, of Smithfield, R.I.; four sisters, Dorothy M. Buckley and her late husband. Robert, also of Bradford, Patricia Driscoll and her late husband. Robert, of North Andover, Gayle Yannolfo of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Sharon and her husband, Tony Reynolds of North Andover; several nieces and nephews; and three grand-daughters, Charlotte and Audrey Lee of Reading, Mass., and Willow Greenwood of Keene, N.H. Mr. Williams was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Voisine.

ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Route 125, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m., in St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at the Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford.
