Williamsburg, VA — A. John Gagne, 84, passed away at the Hospice House in Williamsburg, on Tuesday, October 8, 2013. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., and was the son of Alexis J. Gagne and Honorine Rioux Gagne.
Mr. Gagne graduated from Haverhill High School in 1946, and then the University of Maine. After a career in sales for DuPont and Sherwin Williams, he was president of his own company, TEK Coating in Haverhill. He was also on the board of directors of the New England Metal Finishers Association.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela (Craig); his son, Thomas Gagne and daughter-in-law, Debra; his daughter, Lisa Gagne Ransom; his brother, Bernard Gagne; sister, Connie Donahue; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. His daughters, Cynthia Bellows and Alexis Wall, and his first wife, Elizabeth Garvey, preceded him in death, along with his brothers, Robert and Roland Gagne.
John and Pamela moved to Williamsburg, Va., in 1988. An avid golfer, he belonged to the Golden Horseshoe Country Club, and played in the Monday Morning Men’s Group. He also volunteered at Colonial Williamsburg. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Yorktown, where he was a lay reader.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 17, at 3 p.m., at Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, VA 23188, or www.williamsburghospice.com.
