Salem, NH — Herbert W. Herron, 84, of Salem, N.H., died peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Salemhaven Nursing Center. Mr. Herron was born in Little Falls, Minn., and was raised and educated in Iowa. He lived in Salem since 1983. He served with the US Marines in China, the Pacific Islands and in the Korean War and was the recipient of The Purple Heart. Before retirement in 1989, he owned and operated his own small home repair and building company. Herbert was an avid reader of history. He enjoyed classical music and poetry and loved nature and traipsed many of the mountain trails in the New Hampshire White Mountains. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
His family members include his wife, M. Barbara (Arsenault) Herron, and his daughters, Linda Hugo and her husband, Robert, Pauline Duke and her husband, George, Beth Nault and her husband, David, Sally Gagne and Megan Herron, and also his son, Andrew Belanger. Herbert leaves his sisters, Lois Engstrom and Dorothy Hicks and his brother, John Herron and his wife, Joyce. Herbert leaves also his sister-in-law, Grace Herron and brothers-in-law, Richard Arsenault and his wife, Priscilla, and Kenneth Arsenault and his wife, Carolyn, and also his sister-in-law, Gail Arsenault. He leaves seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH.
