Kenneth G. Hamilton

Groveland — Kenneth Grant Hamilton, 80, of Groveland, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, surrounded by his family.

He was born April 2, 1933, raised and educated in Beverly, MA, son of the late Milton R. and Dorothy (Toppan) Hamilton, and lived in Groveland for the last 50 years where he raised his family.

Ken served for four years in the U.S. Navy as a Construction Battalion Engineer (Seabee), retiring as a Petty Officer Second Class. After retiring from the Navy, Ken went to work for IBM as a Customer Service Engineer retiring after twenty-five years, to start his own business, Pentucket Business Machines. His love for Groveland found him always involved in some capacity serving his town whether the Planning Board, Housing Authority, Parks and Recreation or Cable Committee. He was very proud of his service in the Navy and of his rank as Commander of the William R. Dewhirst, Jr. Post 7366 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He spent innumerable hours devoted to helping veterans of all wars and services to obtain their due benefits. The home that he built in Groveland reflects his lifelong love of gardening and woodworking. Ken’s greatest joys were his family and helping others. Every day brought new projects, a rocking horse for a grandchild, a dollhouse for another. If he wasn’t tinkering at home he was always helping a friend, a neighbor, or one of his children. He was an amazing husband and father, devoted to his family and lived for his grandchildren’s activities; never missing a sporting event, dance recital or theater production. His annual highlight for more than twenty-five years was his week long October trip to Mittersill Mountain in Franconia, NH where Gramps loved to just get in his car and explore.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia B. Hamilton; five children, Patricia Treshinsky of Portland, ME, Holly Hamilton and her husband, Michael Dawes, of Yarmouth, ME, Dorsey Piscatelli and her husband, Robert, of Groveland, Kenneth G.
