Maureen M. York, RN, 89

Methuen — Maureen M. (Kothman) York, RN, 89, of Methuen, passed away on November 5, 2013, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Quantico, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Marion (Hickey) Kothman.

She was the wife of the late George William York Jr. Maureen graduated from Lawrence High School and Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse at Lawrence General Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She also served her country during World War II as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army as a registered nurse.

Maureen is survived by her loving children, George W. York III; Sharon Hellman and her husband, Thomas; William York and his wife, Diana; and Sheila (York) Rozumek; her grandchildren, Christopher York, Susan Smith, Benjamin Hellman, Jeffrey Hellman, Brian Hellman, Adam Rozumek, Elizabeth (Rozumek) Hammock, Amanda Fuccii, Joshua York, Rebecca York, Emily York and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, John and Frank Kothman, and her loving daughter-in-law, Judy York, wife of George.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, November 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home on 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Maureen’s funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 9, at 9 a.m. in St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery Lawrence.
