North Port, FL — Ralph J. Rooney, 82, formerly of Hampstead, N.H., died at his home on January 24. He was the son of Ralph J. Sr. and Eva (Hubley) Rooney. He attended schools in Hampstead and Tilton School in Tilton, N.H. He joined the Air Force in 1951, serving in Alaska and bases in the U.S. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked as an Electronics Technician, owned his own business, “Rooney’s Small Engine Repair,” and retired from the Hampstead School System as a maintenance mechanic. He lived in Hampstead for 56 years, and served on the Hampstead Volunteer Department and Rescue Squad for 34 years. He served with the North Port CERT and was an active member of the North Port Community United Church of Christ. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth (Becky) of 53 years; a son, Ted and his wife, Amy; and his two beloved grandsons, Declan and Jackson. He enjoyed golf, camping, square dancing, traveling, and being with his many friends. He was a man with a great sense of humor and honored his God and country.
ARRANGEMENTS: Burial will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 15, at the North Port Community United Church of Christ.
