Plaistow, NH — Marie Katherine (Kamalian) Tarzia Simone, 91, of Plaistow, N.H., former longtime Haverhill resident, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 28, 2014, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Peter Quimby.
Born in Boston on December 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Elizabeth (Jacques) Kamalian. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1941.
Marie had worked at Western Electric in North Andover, until her retirement and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
As an avid reader, she shared her passion for reading with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. There was nothing that their “Nonna” would not do for them.
Predeceased by her husband, Ralph Simone, she was also predeceased by her first husband, to whom she had been married 50 years, Harry Tarzia. In addition to her daughter, Kathleen Quimby and husband, Peter, of Plaistow, N.H., she is survived by her son, Harry “Chip” Tarzia and wife, Francine, of Amesbury; her five grandchildren, Erin Twombly and husband, Brett, of New Hampshire; Daniel Quimby and wife, Deanna, of Plaistow, N.H.; Sean Quimby and wife, Heather, of Plaistow; Heather Tarzia of Amesbury; and Scott Tarzia and wife, Denise, of Newmarket, N.H.; her seven great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Katherine Twombly, Aiden, Brooke and Charlotte Quimby, and Olivia and Addison Tarzia, all of New Hampshire; and her sister, Joyce Todd of Delaware. She was the matriarch of her family and was truly loved by them all.
ARRANGEMENTS: A period of visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the Rogers-Scatamacchia Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
