Rye, NH — Joseph T. “Jay” Duffy, 58, of Rye, passed away suddenly on September 8, 2013.
He was born on June 19, 1955, in Methuen, Mass., and was a son of the late Joseph G. and Joan (Joyce) Duffy.
Jay was raised in Shawsheen Village in Andover, Mass., and graduated from Andover High School, Class of 1973. After graduating, Jay travelled extensively to the West Coast before returning home to settle into the family textile business in Lowell, Chelmsford and Lawrence, Mass., where he became involved in commercial real estate. He retired in 2006, after 30 years in the business.
In his retirement, he was an avid golfer and played many courses. He spent winters in Del Ray Beach, Fla., was a devoted New York Jets fan, and one of his favorite pastimes was his frequent trips to Foxwoods resort.
Jay was a free spirit throughout his life, and lived it to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
He leaves three brothers, Gordon Duffy and wife, Mara, of Atkinson, Steve Duffy and wife, Nancy, of Haverhill, Mass., and Thomas Duffy of Andover, Mass.; his loving niece, Kerry Duffy and her daughter, Mckenzie, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and his nephew and golfing buddy, Kyle Duffy of Atkinson.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, followed by a prayer service at 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
