Rose A. Matthes, 92

Methuen, MA — Rose A. Matthes, 92, of Methuen died unexpectedly on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.

Rose was surrounded by her family when the angels brought her home. She was born on March 16, 1921, in Lawrence, Mass. She was the daughter of the late Deziel and Rose Audesse. Rose was raised and educated in Andover, Mass. She has resided in Methuen, Mass., for the past 61 years. She worked as a machinist at Honeywell in Lawrence and retired from there. Rose enjoyed her family, sisters, brother and friends. Rose had many hobbies such as arts and crafts, playing bingo, cards and an enjoyed an occasional trip to Foxwoods.

The Matthes family would like to thank Nevins Rehab and Nursing Home and Holy Family Hospital for their excellent care of Rose.

Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years Joseph J. Matthes; as well as her daughter, Joyce Blaisdell; sister, Helen Ouellette; and brother, Maurice Audesse. Mrs. Matthes is survived by her daughter, Nancy Casagrande, of Windham, N.H.; a son, Gary Matthes, of Waldorf, Md.; two grandchildren, Leo O. LaFlamme, of Windham, N.H., and Michelle M. LaFlamme, of Windham, N.H.; four step grandchildren, Deborah O’Rourke and her husband, John, of Salem, N.H., Wayne Casagrande and his wife, Elizabeth, of Oviedo, Fla., Robyn Hughes and her husband, John, of Gibsonia, Pa., and Joanne Reardon and her husband, Vincent, of Fletcher, Vt.; and her great grandchildren, Dominic, Isabelah, and Jayden LaFlamme, Jonathan and Christopher O’Rourke, Bryan and Sarah Casagrande, Kellen, Kyleigh and Aileen Hughes, and David and Daniella Reardon. She also is survived by her brother, Henry Audesse and his wife, Nancy, of Wenham, Mass.; and sisters, Theresa Milone and her husband, Joseph, of Methuen, Mass., Lillian Bedard, of Methuen, Mass., and Dot Weiner, of Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Matthes also leaves behind Denise Woll, and her sister-in-law, Helen Goulet and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Monday, April 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 30 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish St. Theresa’s Church, 22 Plymouth St., Methuen, MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
