North Andover — Harold W. Ritter, 84, of North Andover, died Tuesday at Academy Manor Nursing Center in Andover surrounded by his loving family.
Harold was born in Methuen on January 19, 1929, to the late Walter and Hedwig (Lang) Ritter.
He was a graduate of Tenney High School in Methuen and received his degree in Textile Chemistry from Lowell Tech.
Harold was employed as an exterminator with Bain Pest Control until his retirement. Prior to Bain, Harold was employed at Moshner Dye and Textile in Needham Heights as a dye tech and was a wel- known employee at Stadium Lanes in Lawrence.
Harold served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren, and was a member of the John Hancock Masonic Lodge in Methuen.
Harold is survived by his wife, Joanne (Strobel) Ritter of North Andover; his daughter, Wendy Cooney and her husband, John, of Derrry, N.H.; and his three sons, Scott Ritter and his wife, Sherry, of Salem, N.H., Chris Ritter and his wife, Carolyn, of Derry, N.H., and Tracy and his wife, Judi, of Freemont, N.H. Also among his survivors are his twin siste,r Lillian Schwarzenberg and her husband, Edmond, of Methuen; his seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer their most sincere thanks to the staff at Academy Manor Nursing Center and to Merrimack Valley Hospice for their loving care and many acts of warmth and kindness extended to Harold and his family during his stay with them.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
