Methuen, MA — Donald A. Seaborne, 88, of Methuen died on Thursday May 2, 2013, at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen. Donald was born in Lawrence and moved to Methuen at an early age. He graduated from Searles High School where he was active in sports. He also attended Lowell Technological Institute where he studied engineering and business administration.
During WW II, Mr. Seaborne served two years in The Pacific on The Aircraft Carrier, USS Langley CVL 27 where he was wounded in combat. Among the many decorations awarded to Mr. Seaborne were The Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V, Navy Unit Commendation, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with nine battle stars, Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with two Battle Stars, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation and The Combat Action Ribbon. He was a member of The USS Langley Association, The Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of The Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Seaborne was employed at The Hamblet Machine Company for many years as general superintendent and director of field service engineering and he also worked with A.W. Chesterton as a production superintendent and retired in 1986 from The Atlantic Coast Paperboard Company.
Donald was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Louise (Cedergren) Seaborne and his son, Scott Michael Seaborne. He also leaves his brother Roger and several nieces and nephews.
