J. Leo Ouellette, 88


Bradford — J. Leo Ouellette, 88, formerly of Bradford, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Haverhill, December 12, 1924, son of the late Ernest T. and Marie (Dionne) Ouellette.

Educated in the Haverhill school system, Mr. Ouellette graduated from Haverhill High, Class of 1943, and earned his Pharmaceutical Degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.

Leo was the owner and operator of Richey Drug in Haverhill from 1945 to 1989.

Active in the community, he was a longtime member of the Haverhill Rotary Club from which he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 2008. He served on the Board of Directors at the Griffin White Home in Haverhill, Board Member and longtime chairman of Haverhill Bank, and was also a board member of both the Haverhill Boys Club and the Haverhill YMCA.

Leo was a lifelong member of Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford. He loved being with his family and was a true gentleman and gentle man. He was an avid golfer, followed all sports, and especially enjoyed the trips he and Betty were able to take.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Betty (Donahue) Ouellette; his three children, Susan M. Murphy and her husband, Peter J., of Bradford, Jayne C. O’Keefe and her husband, Stephen R., of East Kingston, N.H., and J. Leo Ouellette, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Groveland; four grandchildren, Kristen Kelley, Maureen Cusano, Kevin O’Keefe, and Douglas Ouellette; a great-granddaughter, Katie; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ouellette was also the brother of the late Jeannette Ouellette, Laurette Malynn, Joseph E. Ouellette, and Angela Mailloux.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on Thursday, May 23, at 9 a.m. from the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 So. Main St., Bradford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Interment will be private in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. Calling hours at the H.L.
