Salem, NH — Alfred F. Harwood Jr., age 74, of Salem, N.H., died peacefully Tuesday surrounded by his family. He was born in Lynn, Mass., where he grew up and attended schools, and graduated from Lynn English High School, where he was inducted in the Hall of Fame for hockey. He was a resident of Salem for the past 48 years. Al was a retired truck driver for Kealey Farms in Salem, N.H. He enjoyed bowling, hockey, and NASCAR. Most of all Al loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his longtime companion, Donna Hill of Salem, N.H.; children, Sheri Homsey of Salem, N.H., Glen Harwood of Salem, N.H., Christopher and his wife, Kari Harwood, of Manchester, N.H., Rachel Hill of Salem, N.H., Leslie Hosch of Connecticut; former wife, Shirley Harwood of Salem, N.H.; sisters, Barbara Bradley of Revere, Mass., Joan Ballum of Florida; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog “Freddie.”
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held Friday, Aug. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a service at 7 p.m. at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, N.H. Cremation will follow.
