Haverhill — Gordon A. Lister Sr., 79, of Haverhill and formerly of Methuen, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill after a short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, the late Palma A. (Leo) Lister and his daughter, Cheryl Ann Elizabeth (Lister) Guillette.
Gordon was born and educated in the Lawrence School system and worked for many years as a truck driver. He retired from Commonwealth Motors in Lawrence. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed cooking, gardening; going to yard sales, collecting antiques and playing the Mass. Lottery. He enjoyed family outings and taking spontaneous trips to the White Mountains with his children.
He is survived by his sons, Gordon A. Lister II and his wife, Susan, Robert E. Lister, Joseph A. Lister and his wife, Cheryl Ann, and Edward R. Lister; his daughters, Georgette M. Muise and her husband, Wane, JoAnn Hamel and her husband, David, Linda Whiter and her husband, Matt, Patricia Morency and her husband, Anthony, Pamela Garcia and her husband, Andre, Amy Beauregard and her husband, Carl, and his son-in-law, Dennis Guillette. He was “Papa” to 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 4, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral Mass will take place on Monday, August 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish in Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lawrence.
