Lawrence — John A. Gillett, age 49, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, April 27, 2014. He was loved and admired for his big heart and sarcastic wit. He lived his whole life in the Methuen and Lawrence area and left quite a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was a carpenter most of his life and member of the Carpenters Union Local 723 and also a cook at the Claddah Restaurant and the Irish Cottage, and enjoyed it very much. He looked forward to spending time with his family riding his motorcycles, fishing, visiting casinos and camping at Salisbury Beach Reservation.
John will be greatly missed by his many friends and family which include his son and best friend, Johnny “Boo” Gillett; daughter, Desiree Melo and grandson, Vinny, and wife, Patty (Ventrillo) Gillett, all of Methuen; longtime companion, Gina Paone and her five children; adoring mom and stepdad, Joan (Bosco) and Brian Faherty of Bonita Springs, Fla.; father, Jim Gillett and his wife, Valerie of Methuen; soul sister, Janelle and her husband, Michael Flynn of Methuen; big sister, Julie Monahan and Mark Lifson of Belmont, N.H.; stepbrothers, Tim Faherty of Salem, N.H., Sean Faherty of Kingston, Mass., and stepsister, Laurie Navin of Westbridgewater; nieces, Savannah and Natasha Marshall and Mariah Monahan of Belmont, N.H.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: A viewing and celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 4, from 1 to 5 p.m. with a service in the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen at 5 p.m. Interment will be private. Honoring his endless love and devotion to animals, at the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
