BOISE, Idaho — Edward Paul McSvet, 92, of Boise, died at his home on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010.
Edward was born on Feb. 1, 1918 in Haverhill to Paul and Louise (Surwald) Machsvitis. Ed attended schools and graduated high school in Massachusetts; after the first grade Ed's parents changed his last name to McSvet due to the fact that many couldn't pronounce Machsvitis. In July of 1941, Ed entered into the United States Army, served his country proudly until his honorable discharge in December of 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. During his time in the Army he worked in the medical field for the VA and served mainly in California.
On June 14, 1943, he married Florence Bascio. They lived in Salem, N.H. for a many years where he and his friend, Dave Freedman started a rug cleaning business, before Ed and Florence moved to Boise. Ed and Florence loved to travel and loved animals. They had no children but gave generously to others. Florence passed away in 1995. Years later, Ed met Frankie Bako and they developed a wonderful loving relationship that lasted until Ed's passing. Frankie did an absolute wonderful job caring for Ed up until the end.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; his parents; and a sister. Ed is survived by his significant other, Frankie; a sister-in-law, Mary Leone; and his adopted family, Jimmy Bako, Charles Bako, and Shirley Williams.
A special thanks to Mary Leone for her help during this difficult time and Four Rivers Hospice for their care of Ed.
