Walter F. Mooney, 71


Haverhill — Walter F. Mooney, 71, of Haverhill died Thursday, February 14, after a long illness, at the Sutton Hill Center, No. Andover, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lawrence, March 11, 1941, son of the late Francis and Margaret (Sullivan) Mooney.

Educated in the Andover school system, Mr. Mooney graduated from Andover High School, class of 1959.

For over 25 years he was employed as a Senior Purchasing Agent at Gillette, Andover. Prior to working at Gillette he was employed as a Plastics Engineer as well as a Tool & Dye maker. An ardent fly fisherman, he enjoyed golfing, bicycle riding and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1078, Andover.

Mr. Mooney cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.

His survivors include his wife of 50 years, Beatrice (Plante) Mooney of Haverhill, three sons, Kevin E. Mooney and his wife Lynnmarie, of Kingston, NH, Bryan F. Mooney and his fiancé Valerie Gautherot of Bethel Springs, TN, Michael Mooney of Newburyport, a daughter, Patricia Heffernan and her husband Scott of Methuen, a sister, Alice Chamberlin of Haverhill, seven grandchildren, Melissa Mooney-Rexford and her husband Thomas, Brianna Karyn Heffernan, Devon Leigh Heffernan, Cameron Scott Heffernan, Drew William Heffernan, Shannon Carole Mooney, Erica Danielle Millett, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Mooney was the father-in-law of the late Nancy Andrews-Mooney.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Service on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 12:00 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Visitation will precede the Memorial Service from 10:00 to 12:00 on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
