Lawrence, MA — James A. McDaniel Jr., 66, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving family.
The son of the late James A. McDaniel Sr. and the late Lillian (Ouelette) McDaniel, Jim was born in New York, N.Y., on August 28, 1947. He was a graduate of the Waterbury, Conn., School System. He received his associate degree in business administration from Nichols College in Worcester, Mas. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic for several local industries, retiring eight years ago. In his earlier years, he treasured his time spent with his two sons and the MB Motorsports Racing Team (#43) at various local auto racing tracks. After his retirement, he dedicated his time to being involved with his grandchildren in all their activities.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy (Kelman) McDaniel; his two sons, James A. McDaniel III and his wife, Kathy, and William McDaniel; his five grandchildren, Jarrett, James IV, Joseph, Cameron, and Cailey; three brothers, Lester Thomas, Calvin McDaniel and Michael McDaniel; two sisters, Florence Henry and Patricia McDaniel; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his grandsons, Jamie McDaniel and Jacob McDaniel.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m., at the Boles Memorial-Baron-McAuliffe-Yameen Funeral Home, 184 Jackson Street, Lawrence, Mass., 978-686-0386. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, March 17, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
