Methuen — Elaine G. (Martineau) Clement, 74, of Methuen, died on Tuesday morning, March 4, at her residence.
She was born in Lawrence on June 18, 1939, and was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Woodbury) Martineau.
Educated in the Methuen School System, Mrs. Clement was employed in various factories in the local area, and was a longtime member of St. Lucy’s Church, Methuen.
She enjoyed bingo and traveling with her late husband, Arthur Clement, who died in 2012.
She is survived by her four brothers, Arthur, John, Leo, and Joe Martineau, all of Methuen; sisters, Loretta White, Veronica Gondouin and Rose Marie Dion.
Mrs. Clement was also the sister of the late Joan Cerchio.
Our family would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for the efforts of Michael and Theresa Girard, who have provided medical, spiritual and day-to-day help for Arthur and Elaine for the past 10 or more years. They assumed the burden that comes from the tending of handicapped individuals that only a caring and skilled caregiver can provide. We also would like to thank Arthur and his fiancée, Ann Marie, for the care and compassion shown to Elaine. May God bless you. A special thank you to her nurses' aide, Maria, who was a good friend to Elaine. Also the family appreciates the efforts of the Merrimack Valley Home Hospice nurses for all their kind words and help.
ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be held in the spring at a date and time to be determined, with interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill & Bradford. Contributions in her memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, Ma 01843, or the MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
