Louise R. Vallante

Methuen — Louise Rita Vallante of Methuen, Mass., entered eternal life on March 15, 2014, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass. She was born on March 21, 1923, in Lawrence, Mass., daughter of the late Immacolata (Greco) and Mateo D’Agostino.

She married the love of her life, Louis J. Vallante, on March 3, 1946. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage, building a legacy of love, commitment, and devotion to each other, their daughters, family, and friends. Their life together was a love story made in heaven and they spread that love far and wide.

A graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1940, she spent 40 years employed at Silver Sweet Candies primarily facilitating their wholesale business. However, her life’s best work, her heart’s work, was her dedication to her husband, children and family.

Louise enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was a master cook. She hosted many events for family and friends and was the happiest person there. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to every opportunity to spend time with them. She loved vacations with her husband and children.

She was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church and a member of the St. Rita’s Sodality. She enjoyed Monday evenings socializing with friends, old and new, at St. Lucy Parish.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Elaine and her husband, Ralph of Methuen; daughter, Carol Vallante of Methuen; grandson, Dr. Nicholas Fillipon and his wife, Ellen of North Grafton; grandson, Dr. Ryan Fillipon and his wife, Dr. Nicole Lynn Fillipon of North Haven, Conn.; and her great-grandchildren, Julia and Ethan Fillipon of North Grafton. She is also survived by three step grandchildren, Louise (Vance) and her husband, Kevin Dillon of Hudson, N.H., Shelby Vance and his wife, Lisa of Bedford, N.H., and Christine Lamay and her fiancé, Michael Brazeil of Ashburnham; six step great-grandchildren, Kristen and Jarod Lamay, Alyssa and Amanda Dillon, and Nathan and Ian Vance; sister-in-law, Ida Vallante DiBurro and her husband, Albert; sister-in-law, Louise Vallario Vallante; brother-in-law, Peter Laudani, and many greatly loved nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by brother, Sam D’Agostino; sisters, Lena Vallante and Viola Cardone.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation hours on Tuesday, March 18, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish in in Holy Rosary Church, Lawrence. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 North Ave., Haverhill, MA 01832, whom the family thanks for their care and support. Louise was treated with upmost dignity and compassion by the entire staff.
