Salem, NH — Alcide H. “Fast Al” Demers, 84, of Salem, N.H., died on March 15, at his home. He was born and educated in Lawrence, Mass. He had been a resident of Salem for over 40 years. Al was a retired firefighter for the Town of Salem for over 26 years. He was an avid member of the Derry Salem Elks Lodge, where he was in the pool leagues. Al enjoyed traveling to Bangor and Millinocket, Maine, to visit family and play the slots. Al was predeceased by his siblings, Albina Demers, Anita Boisvert, Rudolph Demers, Leo Demers, and Joseph Demers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Sandra J. (Zambino) Demers; daughter, Michele and her husband, Michael Olds; sons, Michael Demers, and Matthew Demers and his fiancée, Karyn Drago, all of Salem; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Randy Grava and his wife, Carol, of Yakima, Wash., Millie Waldie of Andover, Mass., Lynn Demers of Sandown, N.H., Barbara Martin of Bangor, and Paula and her husband, Chris Murdock of Old Town, Maine; grandchildren, Joseph Luscomb, Nicholas Demers, Sarah Luscomb, Danielle Luscomb, and Michael Olds; great grandson, Ryan Collins; and many special nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem. A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m., at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
