Merrimac, MA — Edward F. Casazza Jr., 49, of Westbrook, Maine, and former longtime Merrimac resident, passed away unexpectedly on Friday in Merrimac.
Born in Haverhill on June 19, 1964, he was the son of Edward F. Casazza, Sr. and wife, Elaine, and the late Margaret (Rines) Casazza. He attended Merrimac schools, and was a graduate of Pentucket Regional High School.
Ed was a graphic designer and had worked for Sign Design of Portland, Maine, for the past 15 years, and was also a licensed auctioneer.
In addition to his husband, Antonio Garcia of Westbrook, Maine, who was the love of his life, and his parents, Edward Sr. and Elaine, his survivors include his sister, Anne Hurst and husband, James; his brothers, Brian Casazza and Kevin Casazza; his niece and nephew, who were especially dear to him, Katie Richardson and husband, Joe, and his amigo, Daniel Hurst; his mother’s longtime companion, Robert Whitcomb, whom he considered his second dad; uncles, Anthony Casazza, Frank Casazza Jr., and Gordon Rines; two aunts, Shirley Mitchell and Helen Sawyer; and his lifelong friends, Lee and Cindy Pittman and their family; and many cousins.
He was loved by all who knew him for his genuine kindness, caring ways, and generosity of spirit. The countless memories he has left behind are now priceless treasures that can never be taken away from those who hold them dear to their heart.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, will be on Sunday, March 30, from 3 to 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 110 Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill, on Monday, March 31, at 11 a.m. Interment in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to “Peggy’s Pantry,” the Food Pantry at the Merrimac Senior Center named for his beloved mom, 100 East Main Street, Merrimac, MA 01860.
