Salem, NH — Henry A. Morande, 90, of Salem, N.H., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, after a brief illness. Henry was born in Revere, Mass., on May 10, 1923, and was the son of the late George and Nellie (Cummings) Morande.
Henry attended Cambridge schools, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor. He was assigned on the USS Yorktown (CV10) in the Pacific, from 1942 to 1945, where he earned 12 battle stars. Henry retired as a member of the Teamsters Local 25. He enjoyed many pastimes, including spending summers on the Cape and fishing.
Henry is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Lucie (Porras) Morande; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Frazer Fredricks, all of Salem; his granddaughter, and her husband, Kristin, and Marc Vaillancourt; and his two great-grandchildren, Henry and Olivia Vaillancourt, all of Tewksbury, Mass.; his sister, Nancy and Donald Walsh of Gilford, N.H.; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Henry was predeceased by his parents; and siblings Dorothy, Ernestine, George, Lawrence, Elizabeth, and Herbert.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Thursday, April 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral services will take place on Friday, April 4, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Mass.
