Amanda (Carignan) Morrow

Bradford — Amanda (Carignan) Morrow, 91, of Bradford, Mass., passed away peacefully on March 31, 2014, at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Haverhill on June 26, 1922, and was the daughter of Alvinia Carignan. She was a lifelong resident of Bradford and graduated from Catholic parochial schools. She continued her education by completing courses in secretarial work, and worked for a time as a legal secretary in Haverhill. Later, she worked as a waitress at the Bella Vista, Butcher Boy Steak House and the Roma Restaurant, before retiring at the age of 70. In addition, she assisted her husband with his income tax business out of their home.

Amanda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Haverhill. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 90 in Haverhill. She loved animals, taking care of her two schnauzers, and her African Grey parrot, and feeding the squirrels, blue jays and cardinals in the yard. She also loved traveling, and spent many wonderful days in New Hampshire, at the beach, or traveling with her close friends, or her daughter, to Florida, or the Caribbean. She was outgoing, charismatic and had a smile that could light up a room.

Mrs. Morrow was the loving wife of the late Kenneth Morrow, who died on May 25, 1995. They loved fine dining, and enjoyed plays together at the Hampton Playhouse and North Shore Music Theater.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Armand Carignan of Haverhill and Albert Carignan of New Jersey. She leaves her only child, Anne and her husband, Mitchell Grosky of Athol; two grandchildren, whom she adored, Mariah Grosky of Stoughton, Mass., and Joshua Grosky of Athol; as well as several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
