Hampton, NH, formerly of Andover, MA and Pompano Beach, FL — Richard E. “Dick” Page Sr., 86, died at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Monday evening after a short illness. Richard was born, raised and educated in Lawrence. He was the son of the late John J. Page and the late Margaret (Hinchcliffe) Page. After graduating from Lawrence High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a plank owner aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway CVB-41.
After graduating in accounting from Northeastern University, Richard was one of the first CPAs in the Merrimack Valley. A founding partner of James & Page, PA, he later became the founding and principle partner of Richard E. Page & Co., CPAs. Richard was heavily invested in the Merrimack Valley, particularly in downtown Methuen, and was the owner of Alden Edward Realty. He was a founding member as well as a former treasurer, past president and Paul Harris recipient of the Salem Methuen Rotary Club. He was a founding partner of Derry Cable TV and a founding member of the Salem Land Club. A member of the Spickett Lodge of Salem, N.H., Richard was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Massachusetts and the Aleppo Shrine of Wilmington. Richard was also a long standing member of the 100 Club.
A devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, especially at the beach. A huge hole has been left in the sand above the tide line that can never be filled. A self made man Richard believed it was important to return to the community and donated heavily to many charities and organizations throughout the Merrimack Valley. His charitable acts were most often done anonymously as he never sought recognition.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, best friend, and soul mate of 52 years, Dorothy I. (Long) Page; brother, John J. Page; and beloved granddaughter, Jessica Jeanne Page.
He is survived by a son, Richard E. Page Jr. and his wife, Paula (Kelley) Page, of Methuen, their devoted son, Richard E. Page III and his wife, Jennifer (Dallon) Page, their children, Boston O. and Richard E. IV of Menifee Calif., and a loving granddaughter, Katherine M. Page and her significant other, Paul R.
