Seabrook Beach, NH — John T. Costello, Jr., 81, died on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Exeter Hospital following a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born in Haverhill, Mass., on November 24, 1931, and was the son of the late John T. and May (Keefe) Costello. He was a 1950 graduate of Haverhill High School and a graduate of Northeastern University, receiving a doctorate in psychology.
Mr. Costello was a Korean War veteran, who served with the U.S. Navy. He was a psychologist, working for several area schools and hospitals.
He resided many years in Seabrook Beach, coming from Lawrence, Mass., and wintered for several years in Naples, Fla., and Arizona.
Family members include his wife, Clare (Dineen) Costello of Seabrook Beach; a son, John J. Costello of Redwood Shores, Calif.; a granddaughter, Emily Costello; a brother, James Costello and his wife, Elaine, of Lawrence; a sister, Joan M. Costello of Haverhill, Mass.; an aunt, Helen Costello Chechovich of Bradford, Mass.; his niece and goddaughter, Kathleen Galloway of Methuen, Mass.; and three nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Monday, August 26, at Saint Elizabeth Church, 328 Ocean Blvd., Seabrook Beach, N.H., where the family will greet friends at the church prior to Mass from 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842, or the Alzheimer’s Association, Five Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110, or to the charity of one’s choice.
