North Andover — Mary Triestina (Contarino) Kamal, 93, of North Andover, passed away on Saturday, September 14, at Lawrence General Hospital, following a brief illness. Mary was born and educated in Lawrence, and was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Anita (Coco) Contarino, and the widow of Thomas T. Kamal.
Mary was a graduate of Lawrence High School and the Banford Beauty Academy in Boston. Mary worked as a hairdresser for over 40 years at Cherry & Webb, and later, Glemby Salon in Lawrence. Mary’s two favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and preparing great Italian food. She also loved going to the beach, and never passed up the opportunity to enjoy fried clams.
Mary is survived by her children, Dr. Linda Kamal and her husband, Dr. Mark Siegel of Manhatta; her sons, Joseph Kamal and his wife, Joy, of Methuen, and John Kamal of Boston. She will be sorely missed by her two granddaughters, Callie Kamal and Triestina Kamal, of Methuen; and her niece, Anita Brown and her husband, Bill, of Florida; and by her nephews, Sam Salerno and his wife, Toni, of Bradford, Joseph Salerno and his wife, Helen, of Salem, Mass., and Joseph Contarino of Florida. Mary was also predeceased by her sisters, Antoinette Faggiano and Nancy Salerno, and her brother, Tony Contarino.
Mary’s family wishes to express its gratitude to both the Fire and Police Departments of the town of North Andover for their special efforts on Mary’s behalf.
ARRANGEMENTS: Mary’s calling hours and services will be private at the request of the family. She will be interred in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover.
