NORTH ANDOVER — Barbara M. (Furneaux) Bonefant of North Andover, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
Barbara was born in Lawrence, to the late Archibald J. and Florence (Wood) Furneaux. In her younger years, Barbara was an active member of the Christian Endeavor of the First Congregationalist Church of Lawrence and the Masonic Rainbow Girls Association. During World War II, she entertained the troops in Greenland as an exceptional member of the Devi Edwards Dance Troupe. Barbara was an avid knitter, always enjoying knitting sweaters for her children and grandchildren. Spending time with her family was her greatest passion, making phone calls to each of them almost on a daily basis. She rode the waves at the beach with her grandchildren until she was well into her 70s.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late William J. Bonefant Jr. and is survived by her daughters, Nancy M. Baglieri and her husband Anthony of Windham, N.H., and Susan J. Bonefant and her fiance Russell Stein of Studio City, Calif.; brother, Allan W. Furneaux and wife Marie of North Andover; sister, Betty Merrill of Exeter, N.H.; grandchildren, Kimberly Lodge, Tracy Butrica, Kristin and Jessica Cook, Nicole Yennaco, Elizabeth Tucker and Melissa Mancini; eight great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Cook of Salem, N.H., and her sister, Shirley Begg of Salem, N.H.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend her funeral Mass on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at noon in St. Michael Church, North Andover. Interment will be private. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 in the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover.
