Reading — Robert L. “Robby” Barton, 73, of Reading, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 14, 2013.
Born in Winchester, Mass., on April 20,1940, he was the son of the late Harold M. and Eleanor B. (Eisenhaur) Barton. He was a lifelong resident of Reading, and attended Reading Public Schools.
Robby was a lab technician for 39 years at the Charles River Laboratories in Wilmington.
He was a quiet, honest, hard-working, loving man. He was known as "Bob" to all his friends and co-workers. Robby was devoted to his family, his garden and animals. He loved horses and his many dogs. He loved watching his great-nieces and great-nephews growing up. He owned his own horses for many years and was an accomplished equestrian. He enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews, going out to eat, and riding his tractor.
Family members include his loving brother, Paul H. Barton and his wife, Eleanor, of Reading; his sister, Margaret Locke and her husband, Sherman, of North Reading; his nephews, Michael R.H. Barton and his wife, Laura, of Tyngsborough, and Kenneth Locke and his wife, Sheila, of Auburn, N.H.; his niece, Pauline E. Nelson and her husband, John, of Pelham, N.H.; great-nieces and great-nephews, Cate, Ian, Anna, and Nicholas.
Flowers, or memorial donations may be made in his memory to Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals, MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
ARRANGEMENTS: His Funeral will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading, on Friday, September 20, at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Peabody.
