Salem, NH — Mr. William (Bill) F. Corcoran, 69, of Ocala, Florida and formerly of Salem, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 1st, after a brief illness.
Born in Methuen on August 26, 1944, he was the son of the late Aylward Corcoran and Emily (Brandy) Corcoran. Bill was a 1962 graduate of Methuen High School and a 1966 graduate of Norwich University after which he served for four years in the U.S. Army. Bill also completed advanced studies at Merrimack College.
For many years Bill was associated with Catalano Insurance of Methuen and more recently with Cronin and Gervino Insurance of Methuen.
Bill spent most of his life in the Merrimack Valley area and was very active in his community having served on the Boards of the Salem Boys and Girls Club for many years and Salem Haven Nursing Home. He was a recipient of the Man/Youth Award in 1992 for his service, support and contribution to the Salem Boys and Girls Club. Prior to retiring from the Board, he served as President of Salem Haven. Bill valued community service and had also volunteered for the Buddy Werner Ski League and was involved in the board of the YMCA of Lawrence for many years having served in various leadership roles. He was also a longtime member of the Haverhill Country Club and spent most of his life pursuing that elusive hole in one.
Bill leaves his wife of 26 years, Pamela Corcoran, a daughter, Brandy Corcoran Carlson and her husband, Paul, of Washington, DC and a stepson, Peter LaConte and his wife, Christine, of Lynnfield, MA. He was predeceased by his son, Derrick, who died in 1990. He also leaves four grandchildren, Henry Carlson, Renee Carlson, Emily Carlson, Jack Carlson and two step-grandchildren, Kendall LaConte and Nicholas LaConte.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday, Oct. 7th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 40 Main St. Salem, NH. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem. Calling hours at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Dollars for Scholars, P.O.
