Groveland — Joseph W. Kemp, 81, a former, longtime resident of Haverhill, died on October 12, 2013, at Lakeview Nursing home, following a long illness.
Born in Dorchester, he was theson of the late Charles F. and Doris (Simard) Kemp. He was raised in Haverhill, and attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and Lawrence High School. Mr. Kemp served as a Corporal in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with Five Bronze Stars and the Presidential Unit Citation.
Employed as a security guard at Western Electric and AT&T Technologies, he retired in 1989 after 25 years of service.
A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill, and the Telephone Pioneers of America, he was also a life member of the Lorraine Post of the VFW, The Wilbur M. Comeau Post of The American Legion, and the Korean War Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years and the love of his life, Lucille (Fournier) Kemp; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael F. and Karen Kemp of Nottingham, N.H.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Doris Temple of Rollinsford, N.H., Jayne and Douglas Hall of Amesbury, and Judith F. Kemp of Exeter, N.H.; a brother, Charles Kemp III of Haverhill; four grandchildren, Sara Paola, Michaela Kemp, Ben Hall, and Tim Hall; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Justin, Isabella, and Jaxson; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, October 16, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Route 121A, Plaistow, N.H. His funeral will take place on Thursday, at 11 a.m., from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial, at 12 p.m., in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
