Haverhill, MA — Alice M. (Bourque) (Arsenault) LaFontaine, 92, of Haverhill, died on October 15, 2013, at Wingate Nursing Home in Haverhill.
Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Arsenault) Bourque. She came to the United States and received her citizenship in 1952.
Mrs. LaFontaine worked as a floor lady in the local shoe industry. She was a member of All Saints Parish, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, and her first priority was serving her family.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Maxime Arsenault, and her second husband, Richard LaFontaine. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald W. and Catherine Arsenault of Plaistow, N.H.; two daughters and son-in-law, Diane (Arsenault) Briggs of Haverhill, and Yvette (Arsenault) and George Pollister of Haverhill; brothers, Charles Bourque of Haverhill, William Bourque of Worcester, Gerald Bourque of Florida, and Roger Bourque of Canada; five grandchildren, Walter Briggs, Donnie Briggs, Donna Fisher, Michelle Weatherbee, and Scott Pollister; nine great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Bourque, Benoit Bourque, Marianne Bourque, Delphine Gauvin, Eva Dallaire, and Theresa Saulnier; and a grandson, David Arsenault.
The family would like to thank Merrimack Valley Hospice for the care extended to Mrs. LaFontaine during her final illness.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, October 17, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Friday, at 9:00 a.m., from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:00 a.m., in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
