Atkinson, NH — Jacqueline “Jackie” Royce (Gillen), age 71, longtime resident of Haverhill, residing in Atkinson, N.H., died at Tufts New England Medical Center on Friday, October 18, 2013, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of John B. Royce.
Born in Revere, August 11, 1942, she was one of five children of the late John and Jean (Watts) Gillen and attended Hampstead Academy.
Jackie was the heart and soul of her family. Her warm, friendly smile, sparkling eyes, and kind, loving ways endeared her not only to her family but to everyone she met. To know her was to love her.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, golfing, knitting, going to Foxwoods, and the cuddly company of her “puppy Sammy," her little Maltese, who was one of the family as well.
In addition to her husband, John, to whom she had been married over 50 years, she is survived by two sons, John B. Royce, Jr. of Haverhill and David J. Royce and wife Lindsay of Atkinson, N.H.; four daughters, Jeannie Sweeny and husband Scott of Haverhill, Linda Feeney of Pembroke, Jody Royce of Maine, and Jamie Sawyer of Haverhill; three brothers, Joseph Gillen and wife Louise and James Gillen and wife Sally, all of Frostberg, Md., and John Gillen of Maine; one sister, Judith Anderson and husband Carl of Atkinson, N.H.; a brother-in-law, Louis Royce of Quincy; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Royce of Revere; along with 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Royce. As tears fall and hearts break, the love and joy she brought to each and everyone will never be forgotten.
