Georgetown — Karla Jean (Twedt) Szkutak, 51, of Georgetown, passed away on October 28, 2013, at home following a courageous and lengthy battle with multiple myeloma. Cherished wife of Edward Szkutak, loving and enthusiastic mother of Emma and Rebecca Szkutak. She is survived by her brother, David Twedt, and his wife, Jacqueline of Colchester, Conn. Born in Providence, R.I. and raised in Attleboro, Mass., she was the daughter of Donald and Jeanne (Laforest) Twedt of Attleboro Falls, inheriting from them her keen sense of humor and trademark quick wit. Karla was a 1984 graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While working as an engineer and Product Manager for AT&T, she earned an MBA from Northeastern University. After leaving the work force to raise her two daughters, she subsequently earned a second Masters Degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Education. Returning to the world of numbers where she was so adept, she began teaching Math, first at Ipswich High School, then more recently at Haverhill High School.
