Methuen — Lena (DeMarco) Santapaola, 100, of Methuen passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Paul and Carmela (Grasso) DeMarco.
Mrs. Santapaola was raised and educated in Lawrence. She retired from Raytheon in 1976 after 18 years as a group leader in the cable department. She was a member of St. Rita’s Sodality, Venerini Auxiliary, the R.E.A.A., Auxiliary Legion of Mary, and the Holy Family Ladies Auxiliary.
She was devoted to her church, family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking.
Mrs. Santapaola was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Santapaola; her son, Paul A. Santapaola; and her brothers, Urban “Joe” and Salvatore Demarco.
She is survived by her son, Vincent P. Santapaola and his wife, JoAnn, of Salem, N.H.; her grandchildren, Lee Ann Huntington and her husband, George, of Manchester, Conn., and Nancy Milligan and her husband, Scott, of Methuen; and her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Callie and Serena, all of Connecticut.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, November 7, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Friday, November 8, at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex Street, Lawrence. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
