James S. Kelly, Jr., 52

Groveland — James S. Kelly, Jr., 52, of Groveland, died Wednesday, August 21, at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence.

He was born in Chelsea, May 29, 1961, son of Marian (Fletcher) Kelly and the late James S. Kelly, Sr.

Educated in the Cotting School for the Handicapped, Boston, Mr. Kelly’s family moved to Groveland when he was in the sixth grade. He attended Pentucket Regional Middle School and graduated from Pentucket Regional High School. James earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business and Political Science from Florida State University.

For over 23 years he was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Bank Examiner.

An Eagle Scout, James was the Town of Groveland Americans with Disabilities Association Coordinator, member of the Board of Directors for Career Resources, member of the Board of Directors for the Northeast Independent Living Program and Accessibility Coordinator for the Merrimack Valley Hospital.

Besides his mother his survivors include his wife of 24 years, Kathy M. (MacDonald) Kelly of Groveland; two sisters, Donna and her husband, Robert Hallowell, of Groveland, Michelle and her husband, Robert Tremblay, of Groveland; his maternal grandmother, Mary M. Fletcher of Revere; nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Robert Hallowell, Kelleigh, Shauna, Katie and Meghan O’Hearn; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service on Monday morning, August 26, at 11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
