Lawrence — Heriberto Alicéa of Lawrence, born in San German, Puerto Rico on August 1, 1938, died on November 5, 2012 in Salem, surrounded by his beloved family. Heriberto left behind a legacy of love, strength and integrity.
Heriberto treasured the family he helped create with his wife Felicita who predeceased him in 2003. Together they raised 12 children, were blessed with 63 grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Florida, and four great-great-grandchildren of Poinciana, Fla. He is survived by his only surviving sister, Isabel Alicéa of Norwich, Conn.; his children, Jose Alberto Alicéa, his wife Carmen and their six children of Londonderry, N.H., Jose Angel Alicéa, his wife Irma and their three children of Lawrence, David Alicéa, his wife Luz and their three children of Nashua, N.H., Carlos Alicéa, his wife Nilsa and their three children of Tampa, Fla., Wilson Alicéa and his daughter Corina, Julio Victor Alicéa, his wife Sandra and their six children of Methuen, Abigail Alicéa and her three children of Nashua, N.H., Rafael Alicéa, his wife Laurie and their seven children of Lawrence, Waleska Alicéa, her husband George and four children of Lawrence, and Agustina Ortiz and her three children of Lowell; along with two grandchildren of Pinellas Park, Fla. born of his daughter Maria Iris.
Heriberto was predeceased by his parents, Angel Alicéa and Celia Cruz; his sister, Ramona; and two daughters, Maria Monserrate and Maria Iris. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and his everlasting sense of wonder each time he held a new baby born into the family, his sense of humor and epic storytelling talents. He was an accomplished man, father, grandfather, friend and mentor. As a young man he worked the sugar cane fields in Puerto Rico. He retired from Lawrence Maid Company in Lawrence, and was dedicated to spoiling his grandchildren in the last years of his life.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be held at Farrah Funeral Home on Thursday, November 8 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence. Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Farrah Funeral Home 133 Lawrence St; Larwnce, MA 01841.
